Thank you for your interest in hosting an edition (or two, or three, or more) of the Personal Development Carnival.
What is it?
The Personal Development Carnival is for bloggers who have written original articles on personal development, self-help, financial fitness, spiritual growth, or anything else that improves the quality of people’s lives. It is posted weekly, usually on Sundays. Our goal is to have it hosted at a different blog each week on a rotating schedule. You can host as often as you wish, openings permitting.
What Happens When I Agree to Host?
After you’ve been scheduled, you will start receiving submissions from our Blog Carnival submission page the week previous to your hosting date up through the Friday before. This will give you all day Saturday to prepare the edition for posting on Sunday. Blog Carnival has some tools to help you get the edition up, and those of us who have hosted in the past will be more than happy to help you out as well.
What are the Rules?
There aren’t many.
If you’d like to host, we do require that you’ve had an article included in a past edition of the Personal Development Carnival. If that hasn’t happened yet, why not submit an article of yours now?
We keep it to a single post per blog/blogger in each edition. Our current practice is that in the case of multiple submissions, the person hosting the edition gets to choose her or his favorite article, and ignore the others.
The articles that are included have to be in some way related to personal development. It can be anything from “how-to” posts (quit smoking, lose weight, meditate, etc.), to thoughts on spirituality, to financial management, to goal setting… there’s a pretty wide berth, but every once in a while a submission will come in that has nothing to do with the carnival’s theme, such as a political rant. As the person hosting the edition, you’ll be the judge of what’s in or out.
You can use whatever format you want for the carnival, whether it’s Blog Carnival’s standard template, a simple list of articles, your own commentary on each of the submissions, break them up into categories… once again, it’s all up to you.
